CM/ECF Training Information

The Court offers training to attorneys on our Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system. This is the automated case management and electronic docketing system of the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts. CM/ECF provides an easy-to-use electronic case filing feature that allows attorneys to file and view court documents over the Internet. It also provides notice of electronic filing of documents by e-mail for registered attorneys.

The Clerk's Office provides several options for training on electronic filing, including demonstrations of the system, hands-on training sessions, computer based training modules on our web site, and assistance to trainers working in law firms and other organizations. The various training classes are open to attorneys, their support staff and trainers and are held in Boston, Springfield and Worcester at training facilities in our courthouses.

Hands-On Training

Hands-on training for attorneys and their support staff is offered in the divisional offices of Springfield and Worcester. Training sessions can be arranged upon request. A training session lasts approximately 90 minutes and provides attorneys and their staff the knowledge necessary to file pleadings which have been converted to Portable Document Format (pdf), and retrieve electronically filed documents. You must register in advance as class size is limited. A class will be held with a minimum of six students registered up to a maximum of nine in Springfield and Worcester.
